There are times we would do almost anything to find the ‘happy pill’, to instantly relieve the pain in our life. Fortunately, there is no ‘happy pill’. There are times that life requires us to go deeper, in order to see what is keeping us in the pain and separating us from joy. The list of issues that troubles us can feel endless, issues around our family, friends, intimate partners, financial issues, careers, weight etc. It can be overwhelming and particularly when there are a number of concerns we are suffering through at the same time.
In my 10 years of practice, I have learned there is a common thread that runs through most of the pain in our lives. Once we begin to peel away the reasons why we are not ‘happy’ with our lives we come to discover that at the source there is a disconnect between who we are or who we believe we are and who we wish to be. Coming to a place of happiness is ‘easier’, more fulfilling and with a quicker turnaround time when we recognize that as humans we are made up of body, mind and spirit. When we align these parts of who we are, we can experience genuine progress.

live in the present, create your future" Vivian Osal
It is critical that we acknowledge where we are with a particular issue – the truth and nothing but the truth. That’s right, we may be able to fool others, but at the end of the day if we continue to fool ourselves we will miss out in the opportunity to honestly initiate positive life changing shifts. Once our starting point is identified we then can move into examining our beliefs and actions that actually support our current unhappy situation. This means that we then move into taking personal responsibility for our part in creating, supporting the discontent in our lives, by doing this we empower ourselves into taking responsibility for lasting change.
The actual process is simple, bring awareness to thoughts, feelings and actions and ensure they are aligned with the person and life that we want to create. By being aware of how we experience and support the unhappiness in our life we are then able to set the wheels in motion to experience life as we desire it. Yes, what I am talking about requires action, there isn’t a ‘quick fix’, there is always some process, journey that we must go through to experience the change we aspire to. We can in this instant choose to continue to feed pain or we can in this moment cross over from that stagnant perception and choose Happiness.
If we have been very emotionally connected to a life situation that has prevented us from achieving our hopes, it can be difficult to clearly see what our obstacles are and what is necessary for us to adjust in ourselves. It is at this point where we may consider working with someone that will assist in sorting through the layers that have compounded our current predicament. A non-partial outsider, not emotionally connected to our particular situation can be the best possible guide to get assist us to become clear.
